La Garita del Diablo got its name from this very interesting and mysterious legend
about how the Spaniards had to keep guard and most of the garitas were pretty
close but this one was the farthest one in el Castillo San Cristobal and then
one morning when they went to check on the guard, his uniform was there and his
rifle but he was gone. It is a very interesting legend that I advise you to
read and it makes it even more interesting to go there when you know the legend.
